Just changed careers and I am now the Campus Visit and Office Coordinator in Admissions at St. Olaf College
When you think about your time at PiM/MSSPA, what is the one thing that sticks out?
The acceptance of everyone there. Didn’t mean you necessarily liked some people, but we accepted people as equal humans.
What was one thing you feel MSSPA/PIM prepared you for?
College level writing and musicianship
What is something that you were surprised to discover MSSPA/PiM prepared you for?
My career as a teacher. I “performed” everyday! I still kind of “perform” in my new position as most of my job is the receptionist for the admissions office. I think MSSPA gave me the foundation to the confidence I have in my career and job choices.
Are you doing what you thought you would be doing?
Not in the slightest! I went to MSSPA because I wanted to be on broadway. I took a Forensic Science class with Mrs. Johnson my junior year at MSSPA and I decided that would be my career instead. Then I decided on education after taking and introductory class my freshman year of college. Unfortunately, I needed a break from teaching and am now at a job that really values me as a person and an employee, so we’ll see where this position takes me!
