Civil engineer for City of Bloomington Water & Sewer, goofin with music, vibing HARD (always)
When you think about your time at PiM/MSSPA, what is the one thing that sticks out?
How unique an opportunity I had to be able to devote 2-6hrs a day to music and to belong to an artistic community that, to some extent, I can still be a part of today.
What was one thing you feel MSSPA/PIM prepared you for?
I think the English faculty helped me develop critical thinking skills that have served me ever since— being able to write, read, and understand arguments well is like a superpower. I was probably sharper at age 18 during AP Language and Comp than I am today.
What is something that you were surprised to discover MSSPA/PiM prepared you for?
Sarah Omernik once told me that I seemed like the kind of person that “will just figure it out.” Weirdly, that off-the-cuff vote of confidence has helped me in numerous times of doubt.
Are you doing what you thought you would be doing?
Professionally, not at all. Personally/artistically, kinda? I would have liked music & writing to play a larger role in my life, but never really expected them to support me financially (or worked hard enough to make that happen). Still love creating tho ¯_(ツ)_/¯
