Black History Month
Calling all Black Artists! The Black Student Union is putting on a gallery show for Black History Month. We are taking all work from Black Artists, regardless of the student’s major or what their art is about. Ask Grover or Monty for more information. Submissions for art are due this Friday – TOMORROW! So make sure to get your best visual art piece and bring it over to room 131 by this Friday so your work can be considered for the show!
PDA at School
A reminder that PiM is a community where everyone should feel safe. Public displays of affection at school can compromise that feeling of safety for many of our community members. Students should refrain from making out, extended hugging, and touching over and under clothing. We’re still in a pandemic too so we should be doing our best to socially distance where possible. A light kiss, holding hands, short hugs, giving daps or fist bumps, high fives, and handshakes are just fine. When we’re in our community, everyone has a responsibility to contribute. Art space must be a safe space.
Random Recognition
February Random Recognition celebrates the achievements and community efforts of notable local, national, and international Black artists. Today we recognize Florence “Flo” Ngala, She is a Nigerian-Cameroonian-American New York-based photographer. Born and raised in Harlem, New York she is known for her photography work with big music and pop cultural icons. Her photography style focuses on photojournalism and portrait photography. She’s most known for her shoots with Cardi B. Some of her other clients include Adidas, Apple, Nike, ESPN and more. Check out her work at https://flongala.com/
