Word of the Day
Alex Stoner’s word of the day is notion. Which is a vague understanding of something. Notion.
Black History Month
Today is the first day of Black History Month. During the month we will be playing music by Black artists during the lunch period, you will learn about notable local, national, and international Black artists through the Daily Announcements, and there will be a performance highlighting the talents of some of PiM’s Black student artists. It should be a fun and informative month!
Playwright August Wilson
August Wilson was a playwright who paved the way for Black artists in theatre. His series of ten plays delves into the African American experience over the 20th century. Two of his plays have been adapted into films, Fences, and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. He is one of the only people in Minnesota to win a Pulitzer Prize for Drama. In 1987, St. Paul’s mayor named May 27th, August Wilson day.
