Prom
Get your tickets for Midnight Prom Magic. Tomorrow is the last day to buy them!!!
NO SHAME
One week remains to get that NO SHAME piece submitted. You’re running out of time to share your piece with an arts teacher and an academic teacher. Did you know you can do that at the same time? Grab Flory – he’s never doing anything! Bring him down to Ciganko’s room. Show both of them your dance piece at the same time!
Short PSA Film
The UMN library system is shooting a short PSA film about theft prevention in the library. This film will be shot on Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm at Walter Library on the East Bank of the UMN campus. 2-3 young females and 2-3 young males ages 16-29 are needed to act in the film. These are not speaking roles but include acting as a student studying and doing some dancing. See Mr. Thompson or Mr. Leaf for more information
Friday, April 20th Walkout
Please listen carefully if you are thinking about participating in tomorrow’s national school walkout. As this is a very different event than the 17 minute walkout that took place last month, PiM does not endorse this specific walkout. Our sincere desire is that all students will attend school for the full day tomorrow. The school’s response is related only to a student’s choice to leave the building during the school day and to forego a day of learning. It has no relation to the purpose of any walkout.
As such, students who voluntarily leave the building during the school day need to be aware that you:
- Will miss all learning activities and classroom tests for the rest of the day, in addition to state MCA testing.
- Will be marked with an unexcused absence unless a parent/guardian has given prior permission through our regular absence reporting process.
- Will not be able to participate in after-school and/or evening activities tomorrow.
- Will need to arrange your own activities for the rest of the day and your own way home. Parents/guardians may come to school at 10 a.m.—the beginning of the walkout– to pick up their child, if they wish. Students who leave the building will not be able to access school transportation at the end of the school day.
- Will not be permitted to remain on school property after you have left the building.
- Will not be supervised after leaving school property.
PiM staff and administration encourage students to exercise their freedom of speech and to become lifelong learners about issues that are important to you. However, when nationwide opportunities for students to raise their voices occur on school days, we must also consider the potential impact on the regular focus of teaching and learning that our students and families expect. A nationwide all-day walkout poses significant challenges for managing those expectations. Please see Ms. Montgomery or Mr. McFarlane with any questions.
